Kathy Keil spent the 2006-2007 school year teaching English at Lishui University in the Zhejiang Province of China. These poems were written after Kathy and some of her students spent an afternoon cleaning up trash on one local mountainside. Sitting in the sun, reflecting on the land they were helping to preserve, the skill with which these students express themselves really speaks to the fact that poetry is a universal language.
